SUPPORT FOR MUMS RAISING A TEEN WITH AUTISM OR ADHD

Your TEEN is so much more than a diagnosis!

At the age of 6, our second eldest son Joshua, was diagnosed with Autism and ADHD. We were told he would likely not achieve much in life and that the best way to help him was to give him antipsychotic medication three times a day for the rest of his life. We said no. No to accepting a 'just surviving' life and no to the medication. We forged our own path, often alone. Having made a range of changes to his (and our families) lifestyle, many people are now suprised to learn that Josh was once diagnosed with Autism.
(Read Josh's story here)

I see many parents who are lost when it comes to helping their teen. Many who have tried multiple medications and things don't get better, and in fact, sometimes they can get worse. That's because often we are not supported in treating any cause of the autistic symptoms or making changes that will help our children overcome them.  There ARE changes that can be made which will fundamentally impact your son or daughters future for the better. The earlier you can make these changes, the better. In saying that, it's never too late to start!

I also see a lot of parents, Mums especially who feel overwhelmed, exhausted, confused and burnt out when trying to access support services for their child, whilst also dealing with the day to day issues of raising a teen with autism. It can be hard, so very, very hard.

I have a passion for helping people make the decisions that are right for them. Make decisions which suit their family, their circumstances, their teen. I won't be the 'specialist' for you and your teen, YOU will be. You will learn to recognise what does and doesn't work for you, and what you can do to make a difference. With my help, your teen doesn’t have to just survive…he, or she, can thrive...and so can you.

Josh and I shared a small portion of our story of overcoming his Autism and ADHD challenges, with the lovely Meryl Dorey. My prayer is that if nothing else, it brings you HOPE
